The Rev. Esau McCaulley is an author and an associate professor at Wheaton College. He holds a doctorate from the University of St. Andrews, and his research and writing focus on New Testament theology, African American biblical interpretation and Christian public theology.

McCaulley is a contributing opinion writer to The New York Times, and his books include “Reading While Black: African American Biblical Interpretation as an Exercise in Hope” and “How Far to the Promised Land.”
