Intergenerational solidarity: Elders join youth in climate strikes
National Catholic Reporter: The Sept. 20-27 climate strikes are part of the Fridays for Future movement begun last year by Swedish teen Greta Thunberg. This mass student strike, the third global iteration, is the first that has invited people of all ages to join.

United Methodists float plans to split denomination after LGBTQ vote
Religion News Service: The United Methodist Church’s deadline for petitions for its next global meeting passed Wednesday, setting the terms for a final reckoning with LGBTQ issues that have divided the denomination for more than 40 years.

Number of elders under 35 dropping
UM News: The number of U.S. United Methodist elders under age 35 has declined for three straight years. As of May, there were 875, down from 1,003 in 2016 and 3,219 in 1985, when the denomination was much larger in the U.S.
