He is the executive director of the Colorado Council of Churches and the author of the James Beard Award-winning book “Soul Food: The Surprising Story of an American Cuisine, One Plate at a Time.” He previously served as a special assistant to President Bill Clinton and a senior policy analyst for Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter Jr.
