Karen Lake Buttrey Director of Lake Institute on Faith & Giving

David P. King is the Karen Lake Buttrey Director of the Lake Institute on Faith & Giving at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at IUPUI, where he also serves as an assistant professor of philanthropic studies.

A historian and ordained minister in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF), his current project, “Seeking to Save the World: The Evolution of World Vision, American Evangelicalism, and Global Humanitarianis,” traces the history of World Vision.

King earned a B.A. in History from Samford University, a Master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School and a Ph.D. from Emory University.
