The Rev. Donna Claycomb Sokol is the pastor of Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church, a historic congregation in Washington, D.C. Before that, from 2001 to 2005, she served as director of admissions for Duke Divinity School. She has a B.A. in economics from William Woods University, an M.Div. from Duke and a D.Min. in preaching from Wesley Theological Seminary. Before being called to ministry, Sokol worked in D.C., first as a White House intern in the Clinton administration and later on Capitol Hill, as a staffer for Congressman Eric Fingerhut and then Senator Tom Harkin. Vital Worship, Vital Preaching Grants

The Vital Worship, Vital Preaching Grants Program at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship is designed to foster, strengthen and sustain well-grounded worship in congregations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Two streams of grants are offered: to teacher-scholars and to worshiping communities.

Grant proposal due date options include October 15, 2023, or February 15 or June 15, 2024.
