The Rev. Donna Claycomb Sokol is the pastor of Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church, a historic congregation in Washington, D.C. Before that, from 2001 to 2005, she served as director of admissions for Duke Divinity School. She has a B.A. in economics from William Woods University, an M.Div. from Duke and a D.Min. in preaching from Wesley Theological Seminary. Before being called to ministry, Sokol worked in D.C., first as a White House intern in the Clinton administration and later on Capitol Hill, as a staffer for Congressman Eric Fingerhut and then Senator Tom Harkin. Scholarships available for the Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising 

Applications for the Thomas H. Lake Scholarship are now open! This scholarship supports participants in the Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising (ECRF), a program designed to help religious leaders explore the spirituality of fundraising and gain skills essential for their work. 

Applications will be accepted until Monday, August 3, 2026. Applicants should expect to hear a decision by the end of August.
