Pastor

The Rev. Jamar A. Boyd II is senior pastor of Kenwood United Church of Christ in Chicago and associate in the Office of the President at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

Boyd was a graduate fellow of The Gift Collaborative of Black Theological Education & Black Faith Traditions. He holds a bachelor of science in sports management from Georgia Southern University and a master of divinity from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology of Virginia Union University. Additionally, he is a member of the Aspen Institute’s Racial Justice & Religion Collective and a board member of the Oikos Institute for Social Impact.

He is a featured contributor in the first volume of “Preaching During a Pandemic: The Rhetoric of the Black Preaching Tradition.”

Scholarships available for the Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising 

Applications for the Thomas H. Lake Scholarship are now open! This scholarship supports participants in the Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising (ECRF), a program designed to help religious leaders explore the spirituality of fundraising and gain skills essential for their work. 

Applications will be accepted until Monday, August 3, 2026. Applicants should expect to hear a decision by the end of August.
