Matthew Scott is the executive pastor to senior adults at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas. A native of San Antonio, he is a graduate of Wake Forest University, where he studied entrepreneurship and finance, and of St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio, where he received his J.D. Matthew practiced estate planning and probate law before discerning a call to ministry. He graduated with an M.Div. from Duke Divinity School in Durham, N.C.

Applications for the Thomas H. Lake Scholarship are now open! This scholarship supports participants in the Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising (ECRF), a program designed to help religious leaders explore the spirituality of fundraising and gain skills essential for their work.
Applications will be accepted until Monday, August 3, 2026. Applicants should expect to hear a decision by the end of August.
