William Bouvel

Associate rector, St. Chrysostom's Church

The Rev. William Bouvel (Will, he/him/his) was ordained in the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago in 2021 and serves at St. Chrysostom’s Church as associate rector. He completed his M.Div. in 2020 at the University of Chicago after previous careers in information technology and as a classical singer.

Since 2020, in the wake of George Floyd’s murder, Bouvel has been working with Jennifer Holt Enriquez to find ways to tell children in their communities about how our faith can inform the problem of racism. They have developed a set of stories, Tell Me the Truth About Racism, suitable for ages 4 and older, connecting the language of our faith to the challenges of systemic racism in our world. Now they walk alongside other communities, 60 and counting, to preach those stories and the good news in their own contexts. Their training sessions meet online and in person throughout the year.
