Christie Matherne

Journalist

Christie Matherne is a freelance journalist, editor and photographer in western Colorado. She writes food and culture stories for 64 Parishes magazine and Country Roads magazine when visiting her home state of Louisiana, and co-founded a podcast for the nonprofit Western Colorado Writers’ Forum.

In 2020, her story about gumbo for 64 Parishes was awarded first place in Lifestyle Journalism from the Press Club of New Orleans. She is currently working on a book about hope, broadly, with John Lanci, professor emeritus of the religious studies department at Stonehill College.
